For Students
Letters of Recommendation (all students)
I have a fixed policy on who I write letters for, what I write them for, and how to ask. Read it before you request one.
Apply to Give a Guest Lecture (PhD students)
PhD students can apply to teach a guest lecture or tutorial in one of my courses. See Teaching the Frontier.
Research Assistants (all students)
Undergraduate, MA, and PhD research assistants work in the Khazra Research Lab (K.R.L.) and present their findings at the lab's monthly seminars. Openings are posted on the lab website.
Data for Economists (undergraduates)
A searchable catalogue of 75 datasets for project-based economics, each with a suggested research question, drawn from Kaggle, Statistics Canada, US federal agencies, the OECD, and others. Built for ECO225 and open to anyone.
Teaching Resources (TAs and instructors)
The Research Mentoring TA Manual is an open-source guide for teaching assistants who supervise student research projects. Fourteen chapters cover feedback on research questions, code, empirical results, and writing; collaboration-hour protocol; AI-era guidelines; grading calibration; and common student problems, with rubrics, templates, an onboarding workshop, two worked cases, and a feedback quiz for TA training. Read it as a single PDF.
The Econ Data TA is an AI coach for project-based data courses, written as a system prompt any instructor can copy. It explains and debugs but will not complete graded work. Course guidelines and notebooks are on the Teaching page.
